Poem #4: Waiting

She stands in the rain, waiting

It starts to storm, but she’s determined

The harsh wind blows, her umbrella no longer in tact,

She puts on her hood and embraces the cold.

Hours pass, people look and whisper

She leans against the building, hope slightly fading.

The sun sets, the sky, bright orange

A slight breeze blows over the moistened street

A chill fills the air.

She nods off, all hope lost.

She wakes as she feels a tap on her shoulder

It’s him, with a rose and sincere apology

He hugs her tight and says how much he loves her

Still a bit distraught, she hugs him back and kisses him,

a sign of forgiveness, a sign of true love…

That one special person is worth waiting for.

New Poem of the Week #3: Stars

He’s sitting on the hill

alone, long after sundown.

The cool breeze is his only

company, or so he thinks…

The stars he’s looking at,

they’re looking back,

admiring him, who he is

inside. They see his

loneliness, the pain he

hides in his soul. They

see his innocence and his

broken heart.

He looks to them as signs of

hope, trying to believe his

life will get better.

They look at him trying to

give him hope, by twinkling

as bright as they can until

they exchange turns with

the Sun.

New Poem of the Week #2: You’re Worth It

You’re Worth It

Tired, dragging

wondering when the Sun will shine again.

Doing countless things, using so much time,

not ever relaxing, always something on my mind.

But the twinkle in your eyes

and the warm hugs you give

make it all worth it.

I forget about the pain,

about the fatigue.

I choose not to quit

to keep that smile on your face.

There’s nothing that will tear me apart from you.

You’re better than what I dreamed of, than I hoped for.

I’ll keep my head up and smile

because you always make it worthwhile.

New Poem of the Week #1: To Those Who Are Struggling

Your days will get better, brighter

don’t give up, keep going.

Even though it feels like you’re not moving at all,

you are. You’re moving way faster than you think.

God has great things in store for you, don’t stop.

You’re always closer than you think.

I won’t lie, there will be heartache

there will be difficult situations,

quarrels, unfairness,

times when you think it’s too much

but you’ll get through it.

Remember, when the storm ends, there is light,

and strength, you’ll have more strength at the end.

More times you’ll say, “Been there, done that,” “This is nothing,” “I can handle this.”

You’ll smile more, have greater confidence.

People will admire you, be inspired by your actions,

how gracious you are through tough times, not easily phased.

Lift your head, I know you see only clouds

but they’ll go away soon,

don’t focus on the darkness they bring.

And the rain,

think of the rain as a shower,

cleansing you, making you better than before.

No matter how dimly it may show, light is always present.

I believe in you, so do the others around you.

And to those who discourage you, pay them no mind.

Don’t be influenced by their blindness.

You and I see that your future is bright

and filled with wonderful, beautiful things.

It’s raining now, but before you know it,

you’ll be dancing in the Sun’s bright rays,

drying from it’s comforting heat,

under the rainbow shining just for you.
